Honda S2000 CR Prototype The club racer-inspired 2008 Honda S2000 CR Prototype making its world debut at the 2007 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) introduces a higher level of track-worthy performance and style to the S2000 roadster, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. The Honda S2000 CR will be available as an entirely new S2000 trim level when it goes on sale in the fall of 2007. The lighter, stiffer and more aggressive overall design is engineered to maximize the S2000's potential on a racetrack with the goal of substantially-improving track times, chassis balance and feel. 2007 New York Auto Show: Chevrolet Rolls Out Beat, Groove and Trax Minicar Concepts

NEW YORK — Saying "size doesn't matter," Chevrolet on Wednesday took the wraps off the three Korea-designed concepts that mark its foray into the global minicar arena. The Chevrolet Beat, a front-wheel-drive three-door hatchback, is described as a "speedy micro import tuner." It is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged gas engine mated to an automatic transmission. GM says the Beat is "loaded with technology, including a navigation system and premium stereo." The Chevrolet Groove is called a "funkastalgia"-themed vehicle with retro cues that include oversize fender flares and an upright windshield. It is powered by a 1.0-liter diesel engine. The Chevrolet Trax is an all-wheel-drive urban crossover concept that is powered by a 1.0-liter gas engine. Chevrolet is testing the water with consumers by having Web viewers vote for their favorite of the three at a special Chevy Web site. Hyundai Reveals Concept Genesis Ahead Of NY Debut

Hyundai has just let loose with some advanced images and details of its big New York debut, the Concept Genesis. A near-production rear-drive large sedan concept, the Genesis looks to extend the brand’s upward trajectory to an even higher pricepoint. Powered by the company’s new Tau 4.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V-8, the company promises that when a production version of the Genesis hits in 2008, it will start at “well under $30,000.” Hyundai says the CG has a 53:47 weight distribution, and is 12-to-14 percent stiffer in torsional rigidity than a BMW 5-series or Mercedes-Benz E-class, all while being lower in weight. Mounted to it is a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox, complete with manual shifting inputs. So-equipped, Hyundai says the 300+ horsepower V-8 Genesis will run to 60 miles-per-hour in “well under” six seconds.
