German tuner Novitec definitely had a tough task on its hands when asked to improve the performance and styling of one of the best looking saloons on the market. However, it did have a few major accomplishments under its belt to back it up. These are, after all, the same guys that had the guts to modify a Ferrari Enzo and it appears that they haven’t changed the gorgeous lines of the Quattroporte. The same can’t be said as to what’s under the hood. Engineers have optimized the car’s ECU, lifting the engine’s cutoff to 7,800rpm and increasing output to 413hp (304kW) at 7,100rpm. A new stainless steel exhaust system with two 83mm tailpipes on either side ensure power is increase right across the rev range, and also sees that torque jump to 468Nm at 4,650rpm. AHLEN, Germany — Confessing that it was "never very happy with the Maserati MC 12 ," German tuner Edo Competition has unleashed the Maserati MC 12XX . The aim of this iteration is to hit "Ferrari FXX power levels," Edo said. The Maserati MC 12XX is equipped with a 6.3-liter V12 engine that churns out 800 horses and 575 pound-feet of torque. Edo says it's a 170-hp boost over the Maserati MC 12R , thanks to FXX-like steel cylinder and piston, new Titan valve springs and connecting rods, new exhaust manifolds and a new clutch. The MC 12XX has a maximum speed of 242 mph. Edo says that the volume of the exhaust is adjustable via a button and that the car is equipped with new Michelin racing wheels. The kit includes one-day testing with an instructor, data recording and hospitality on a racetrack.

These are the first sketches of the new Maserati Coupe , due to debut at the International Motor Show in early March. Suddenly two weeks seems like a very long time to wait. The Coupe looks to be based on a shortened version of the Quattroporte, and should be available in three different body styles - Spyder, 2+2 and hardtop convertible. Under the bonnet, well, we're not promising anything, but best guesses indicate that the Coupe will be powered by the 4.3-litre V8 from Ferrari's F430.
