ECHO Stars Drive Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion as a Symbol of Environmental Protection

VW Polo BlueMotion
Volkswagen supports the German music prize award ceremony with a low-emission shuttle fleet of 50 VW Polo BlueMotion cars.

The environmentally-friendly Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion is on duty at the ECHO award ceremony. When the German music awards are presented in Berlin on March 25, 2007 artists including international top stars such as Simply Red will drive up to the red carpet in the extremely low-emission version of the Volkswagen Polo. Volkswagen is thus making a clear gesture in support of environmental protection.

Volkswagen is providing 50 VW Polo BlueMotions for the shuttle service at the ECHO award ceremony. The vehicles are an acknowledged pioneer in environmental compatibility and economy. With CO2 emissions of only 102 g/km, the Polo BlueMotion sets a new standard. Thanks to its low consumption of only 3.9 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and a power output of 59kW/80hp, this particular Polo model has become a bestseller.

According to Stephan Grühsem, Head of Communications at Volkswagen AG: "We are confident that national and international guests at the ECHO award ceremony will welcome the opportunity to experience the advantages of the VW Polo BlueMotion – dynamics, low average fuel consumption and low emissions."

Gerd Gebhardt, Executive Producer of ECHO 2007, added: "We are 100% behind this exemplary action. After all, the future belongs to economical and environmentally-friendly cars!"

The Sound Foundation Polo "First Act" celebrates its world premiere at the ECHO awards. This exclusive model from the house of "Volkswagen Individual" captures its audience with the same economical consumption and unadulterated driving pleasure as the bestselling Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion. Guitarists will be delighted by a 70 watt amplifier fitted under the glove compartment.

First Drive: 2007 Honda Civic GX

Previews Greenie spendthrifts wanted: A heavier, slower Civic with a smaller trunk. Oh, yeah, and it costs 50 percent more. Never mind that we in Michigan are just emerging from our igloos after a long cold winter. The world is heating up, the ice caps are melting, and when that melt is complete, we’ll all be living high in the mountains in houses on stilts to stay dry. Forty days and 40 nights the waters will rage, and when the ice caps refreeze, we’ll all be fighting over who called first dibs on those last two pigs for our celebratory barbecues, since the unicorns were already eaten by sharks. There are people who would argue that that sinister little creation, the automobile, is responsible for it all. We blame Al Gore, China, sweatshops, and greenie celebrities who flit about in private jets. Those who want to make a difference drive hybrids, while those who researched their decision drive diesels. Those who are truly enlightened and want to make a difference, however, seek someth...
