(from Detroit Street Rods Press Release) Detroit Street Rods, LLC (DSR), a management company formed by ABS Partners, LLC and Dearborn Deuce, LLC, announced today that the company was awarding the paint and assembly of Ford’s 75th Anniversary Deuce roadsters to Saleen Incorporated’s Troy, Michigan production facility. Saleen recently painted and assembled the classic Ford GT sports car at this facility.

2007 Ford 75th Anniversary Deuce2007 Ford 75th Anniversary Deuce 22007 Ford 75th Anniversary Deuce 3Last fall, Ford announced plans to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford, noted for the advanced styling by Edsel Ford, Henry’s son, and the performance of the first mass-produced V8 engine, the Ford “flathead.” Although in production for only a single model year, the Deuce has become an American icon as the quintessential hot rod. In addition to numerous celebrations and events planned for the coming year, Ford officially licensed DSR to produce 100 Deuce roadsters to commemorate the anniversary.

The Ford 75th Anniversary Deuce is based on the highly acclaimed and award-winning Dearborn Deuce TM roadster that combines the beauty of Ford’s original highboy design with contemporary technology.

The first Anniversary Deuce was actually built for Edsel Ford II, Edsel’s grandson, and gifted to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to sell at January’s Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., where the roadster brought $330,000 for the charity. Fred Blum, DSR’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, expects Anniversary Deuces to roll down the Saleen assembly line by April 1 and that’s “no April Fools joke.”

The remaining 99 Ford 75th Anniversary Deuces, including ten Edsel Ford II-signature models, are currently being sold through Ford Racing Performance and select Ford dealers starting at $165,000.

First Drive: 2007 Honda Civic GX

Previews Greenie spendthrifts wanted: A heavier, slower Civic with a smaller trunk. Oh, yeah, and it costs 50 percent more. Never mind that we in Michigan are just emerging from our igloos after a long cold winter. The world is heating up, the ice caps are melting, and when that melt is complete, we’ll all be living high in the mountains in houses on stilts to stay dry. Forty days and 40 nights the waters will rage, and when the ice caps refreeze, we’ll all be fighting over who called first dibs on those last two pigs for our celebratory barbecues, since the unicorns were already eaten by sharks. There are people who would argue that that sinister little creation, the automobile, is responsible for it all. We blame Al Gore, China, sweatshops, and greenie celebrities who flit about in private jets. Those who want to make a difference drive hybrids, while those who researched their decision drive diesels. Those who are truly enlightened and want to make a difference, however, seek someth...
